Hi. I dont think 5.10's will save ankle sprain but they can help protect the sides of them with the padding. To some extent a the 661 brace AND 5.10's would be the best combo. I roll over on my ankles usually twice a year ( not riding) and dought they would help stop that, but they dont slide off pedals at all so they eliminate a major hazard in that respect.
